What this lesson covers

  1. 01

    Interaction design serves transfer

CDLA Modules 1–4 mapped actions, science, assessment, and pathways. Module 5 chooses interaction patterns that rehearse those actions on screen: scenarios, branches, and practice loops — each tied to an observable move from the action map. Merrill’s integration principle asks learners to plan how they will use the skill at work; interaction design is how you make that plan inevitable, not optional.

  2. 02

    LTEM tiers for interaction choice

Tier claim | Interaction pattern | Weak substitute

Decision-making (Tier 5) | Branching dialogue with distinct consequences | Multiple-choice recall of policy text

Task competence (Tier 6) | Simulated workflow with scored steps | Click-through demo with no learner action

On-job application (Tier 7) | Stretch task + manager sign-off in pathway | Certificate PDF after completion %
