Avatar and 3D dialogue limits

   Synthetic presenter disclosure

   3D dialogue and AI avatar slides are production formats in Studio — not real people. Courses that simulate coaching should disclose synthetic media where regulators or union agreements require it. An avatar reading a 40-slide policy is still a content dump with a face.

   Good vs bad avatar use

   30-second intro to a branching customer call. — Thirty seconds to name who is speaking, what they want, and what fails if the learner is wrong. Then the learner branches. The avatar does not keep talking.

   Avatar narrates 20 minutes of policy bullets. — Voice plus on-screen bullets repeat the same policy. That is redundancy, and the extra motion does not carry a decision. Put the policy in a job aid and keep the avatar for the stake only.

   The avatar introduces; the learner decides

   A 3D dialogue scene is useful for about thirty seconds: who is speaking, what they want, and what goes wrong if the learner fails. Then the learner branches. An avatar that reads twenty minutes of policy bullets is a content dump with a face — Mayer’s redundancy and coherence principles both apply, because the voice and the bullets repeat and the extra motion does not carry the decision. Disclose synthetic media where a regulator or a union agreement requires it. Studio’s avatar and 3D formats are production tools, not people, and they do not replace the module gate. WCAG still applies to the dialogue controls: focus order, contrast, and captions when speech carries information the text does not.

   Scene vs policy reading

   Send back: Avatar narrates the full policy. Learner clicks Next. · No disclosure that the presenter is synthetic. · Dialogue controls have no keyboard path.

   Ship: Short setup, then the learner chooses a branch. · Synthetic media disclosed where it is required. · Captions and focus order checked in Arabic and English.
