What this lesson covers

  1. 01

    Where L&D rates itself low

Source: ATD Capability Model self-assessment, 31 Dec 2023 (N=29,473). Self-ratings, not exam scores.

    Data & analytics: 33.5

    Evaluating impact: 40

    Instructional design: 45.6

  2. 02

    Bridge to CLISS

This module designs evidence. The CLISS program (preview in the catalog) goes deeper on instrumentation, xAPI, and executive narratives. CDLA architects own the assessment map; impact strategists own the measurement protocol.

  3. 03

Kirkpatrick working backward — LTEM stays primary

If stakeholders only know Kirkpatrick’s four levels, work backward from results they already track (Level 4), then behavior evidence (Level 3), then learning evidence (Level 2), then reaction last (Level 1). Do not stop at smile sheets. Map those levels onto LTEM tiers for honesty: reaction ≠ transfer. This academy still designs and claims with LTEM — Kirkpatrick is a translation layer for executives, not a replacement framework.
